Siddaganga Institute of Technology

Siddaganga Institute of Technology (SIT) is a reputed engineering college located in Tumkur, Karnataka, India. It was established in 1963 by Sree Sree Shivakumara Swamiji under the Sree Siddaganga Education Society. The college is affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) and is recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). It is also accredited by the NAAC with A++ grade and ranked among the top 100 engineering institutes in the country by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) for five consecutive years (2016-2020).

SIT offers 14 undergraduate programmes and 9 postgraduate programmes in various disciplines of engineering, technology, architecture, management and computer applications. The college also has 15 research centres recognized by VTU, where 187 research scholars are pursuing their Ph.D. programmes. The college has a well-qualified and dedicated faculty of about 310 members, out of which 143 have Ph.D. degrees from prestigious institutions like IISc, IITs and others. The college also encourages its faculty and students to undertake sponsored research projects from various funding agencies like DRDO, DST, ISRO, AICTE, VGST and others, with a total funding of Rs.100 million.

SIT has a sprawling campus of 65 acres, with state-of-the-art infrastructure and facilities. The college has well-equipped laboratories, workshops, library, auditorium, sports complex, hostels, canteen, health centre, bank, post office and other amenities.
