Pramukhswami Medical College, Karamsad

Pramukhswami Medical College, Karamsad is a private medical college that was established in 1987 by Charutar Arogya Mandal, a charitable trust dedicated to providing quality healthcare and education to the people of Gujarat⁵. The college is affiliated to Bhaikaka University, a deemed-to-be university recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC)³. The college is also recognised by the Medical Council of India (MCI) and the National Board of Accreditation (NBA)⁴. The college offers undergraduate (MBBS) and postgraduate (MD, MS, DM, MCh) courses in various medical specialties. The college has a total intake of 200 seats for MBBS and 107 seats for PG courses.

The college is located in Karamsad, a town in the Anand district of Gujarat. The college has a sprawling campus spread over 31.32 acres of land donated by Dr Pinnamaneni Venkateswara Rao, a renowned surgeon and founder president of Siddhartha Academy of General & Technical Education³. The college has eight buildings, including the college building, the hospital building, the hostel building, the auditorium, the library, the cafeteria, the sports complex and the administrative block². The college has a 900-bedded multi-specialty teaching hospital that provides clinical education and training to future doctors and postgraduate medical students, in addition to delivering tertiary level medical care to patients³. The hospital provides round-the-clock emergency services, intensive care units, blood bank, dialysis unit, radiology department, pathology department, pharmacy and ambulance services². The hospital also has specialty departments such as cardiology, neurology, nephrology, gastroenterology, urology, plastic surgery, paediatric surgery, neurosurgery and vascular surgery². The hospital caters to the needs of the people not just of Anand district but also of the surrounding under-served areas. The hospital also conducts various outreach programs and health camps.

The college has a dedicated and experienced faculty of 287 members, who are well-qualified and trained in their respective fields.
