The Peoples' Friendship University of Russia, also known as RUDN University, is a public research university located in Moscow, Russia. It was established in 1960 by the Soviet government to help nations that had recently achieved independence from colonial powers and to foster a Soviet-Third World alliance. The university aimed to educate a Soviet-friendly intelligentsia and to promote internationalism and multiculturalism.

The university has a diverse student body, with students from 158 countries studying in various fields such as engineering, medicine, law, economics, humanities, and natural sciences. The university also has partnerships with over 2500 foreign universities and research centers. The university is ranked among the top 150 universities in the emerging economies by the Times Higher Education and among the top 300 universities in the world by the QS World University Rankings.

The university has a rich history and culture, as it was named after Patrice Lumumba, the first prime minister of the Democratic Republic of Congo, who was assassinated in 1961. The university was a symbol of the Soviet support for the anti-colonial movements and the liberation struggles in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. The university also hosted many prominent figures, such as Nelson Mandela, Fidel Castro, Yasser Arafat, and Mahmoud Abbas, who visited the campus and gave speeches to the students. The university was renamed as RUDN University in 1992, after the collapse of the Soviet Union, but it restored the name of Patrice Lumumba in March 2023, as a tribute to its founding mission and values.

The university has a motto of "Scientia unescamus", which means "Let us be united by knowledge". The university strives to provide quality education and research opportunities for its students and faculty, and to contribute to the global development and cooperation. The university also organizes various cultural and social events, such as the Days of Yemeni Student Culture, the International Student Construction Brigade, and the New Year Celebration, to celebrate the diversity and friendship of its community.
