P.E.S. Institute of Medical Sciences and Research

P.E.S. Institute of Medical Sciences and Research is a private medical college in Andhra Pradesh, India, that was established in 2001 by the People's Education Society. The college offers undergraduate (MBBS) and postgraduate (MD, MS, DM, MCh) courses in various medical specialties and is affiliated to Dr YSR University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada. The college is recognised by the Medical Council of India and the National Board of Accreditation. The college has a total intake of 200 seats for MBBS and 107 seats for PG courses².

The college is located in Kuppam, a town in the Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh. The college has a sprawling campus spread over 31.32 acres of land donated by Dr Pinnamaneni Venkateswara Rao, a renowned surgeon and founder president of Siddhartha Academy of General & Technical Education³. The college has a well-equipped library with more than 10,000 books and journals, a digital library with internet access, and an e-learning centre². The college also has a state-of-the-art auditorium with a seating capacity of 750 people, where various academic and cultural events are conducted².

The college has a 750-bedded multi-specialty hospital with modern facilities and equipment. The hospital provides round-the-clock emergency services, intensive care units, blood bank, dialysis unit, radiology department, pathology department, pharmacy and ambulance services². The hospital also has specialty departments such as cardiology, neurology, nephrology, gastroenterology, urology, plastic surgery, paediatric surgery, neurosurgery and vascular surgery². The hospital caters to the needs of the rural and urban population of Kuppam and neighbouring districts and also conducts various outreach programs and health camps².

The college has a dedicated and experienced faculty of 287 members, who are well-qualified and trained in their respective fields. The faculty members are involved in teaching, research and patient care activities. The college follows the curriculum prescribed by the Medical Council of India (MCI) and the Dr YSR University of Health Sciences. The college also conducts regular seminars, workshops, guest lectures, conferences and CME programs for the students and faculty².

The college has separate hostels for boys and girls with comfortable rooms and amenities. The hostels have mess facilities that provide hygienic and nutritious food to the students.
