The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Tiruchirappalli, also known as NIT Trichy, is one of the premier engineering institutions in India. It is located in Tiruchirappalli (also known as Trichy), a city in the southern state of Tamil Nadu.

NIT Trichy was established in 1964 as a joint venture between the Government of India and the Government of Tamil Nadu. It was originally known as the Regional Engineering College, Tiruchirappalli (RECT). In 2003, it was given the status of a National Institute of Technology and renamed NIT Tiruchirappalli.
