
Kazakh Russian Medical University
Kazakh Russian Medical University (KRMU) is a private university in Almaty, Kazakhstan, that was established in 1992 as the Kazakh Medical Institute (KMI). It is one of the first private universities in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). In 2010, KMI was renamed as the Kazakh-Russian Medical University. KRMU offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs in various medical fields, such as general medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, nursing, and public health. KRMU also has a college, a faculty of postgraduate education, and a reserve-officer training department. KRMU has its own clinical units, such as a research institute of eye diseases, a scientific center of urology, a research institute of oncology and radiology, a research institute of cardiology and internal medicine, and a national scientific center of surgery. These units provide practical training and health care services to the students and the community. KRMU also has a museum of history, an anatomical museum, a center of practical skills, and a nursing center. KRMU is actively involved in scientific research and international cooperation, and has a strategic partnership with Poznan University of Medical Sciences in Poland. KRMU is one of the leading medical universities in Kazakhstan and has a high reputation for its quality of education and research. According to the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2021, KRMU ranks among the top 501-550 universities in the world for medicine. KRMU has more than 7,000 students and 500 faculty members, and graduates more than 500 doctors every year².
