Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University

Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) is the first national university in Georgia and the first higher education institution in the South Caucasus region. It was founded on February 8th, 1918, and is named after Ivane Alexandres dze Javakhishvili, a Georgian historian and linguist who significantly influenced the modern scholarship of the history and culture of Georgia.

TSU is located in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia. It has a historical mission to support the development of a democratic society in Georgia, foster affable relations with the international community via its students’ output, and through international educational and scientific cooperation.

The university offers a wide range of programs across several faculties, including the Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences, Faculty of Humanities, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences, Faculty of Economics and Business, Faculty of Medicine, and Faculty of Law. TSU is the largest university in Georgia with over 22,000 students, 5,000 staff and associates, 18 research institutes.

TSU follows the European system of education and quality assurance, and it has been part of the Bologna process since 2005. The university is equipped with modern facilities, well-equipped laboratories, and rich educational resources. It also offers free access to scientific databases, integrating thousands of scientific publications.
