Institute of Medical Sciences & SUM Bhubaneswar (IMS & SUM) is a private medical college and hospital located in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. It was established in 2007 by the Siksha 'O' Anusandhan (SOA), a deemed to be university that offers various courses in engineering, management, law, pharmacy, nursing, and hospitality¹. The college is inspired by the vision and teachings of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother².

IMS & SUM offers an undergraduate course in Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) with an intake capacity of 150 students per year. The duration of the course is four and a half years followed by a compulsory one-year rotating internship. The admission to the MBBS course is based on the merit rank obtained in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA)³.

IMS & SUM also offers postgraduate courses in Doctor of Medicine (MD) and Master of Surgery (MS) in 19 specializations such as Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pathology, Microbiology, Pharmacology, Forensic Medicine, Community Medicine, General Medicine, Pediatrics, Dermatology, Psychiatry, Respiratory Medicine, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, ENT, Obstetrics & Gynecology, and Anesthesiology. The admission to the MD and MS courses is based on the merit rank obtained in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-PG) conducted by the NTA³.

IMS & SUM is affiliated with SOA University and approved by the National Medical Commission (NMC) formerly known as Medical Council of India (MCI). The college has a well-equipped campus with modern facilities such as lecture halls, laboratories, library, auditorium, hostel, mess, sports complex, gymnasium, and transport. The college also has a 750-bedded multi-specialty hospital attached to it, which provides clinical training and exposure to the students as well as serves the health care needs of the rural population⁴.

IMS & SUM aims to impart quality medical education and training to the aspiring doctors and to produce competent and compassionate professionals who can contribute to the advancement of medical science and health care. The college has a dedicated and experienced faculty who guide and mentor the students throughout their academic journey. The college also organizes various academic and extracurricular activities such as seminars, workshops, conferences, cultural events, sports meets, and social service camps to enhance the overall development of the students.
