Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management

Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management (GITAM) is a deemed to be university located in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka. It was established in 1980 by Dr. M.V.V.S. Murthi, former MP and philanthropist, and a group of inspired intellectuals and industrialists. The institute is inspired by the vision and teachings of Mahatma Gandhi and aims to provide quality education and research in various fields¹.

GITAM offers various courses in the field of engineering, management, law, medicine, pharmacy, architecture, science, paramedical, physiotherapy, nursing, humanities, social sciences and public policy. The courses are affiliated with Vinayaka Missions University, Salem, Tamil Nadu, and approved by the National Medical Commission (NMC) formerly known as Medical Council of India (MCI). The courses are also accredited by NABL and NABH².

GITAM has four campuses: Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and GIMSR. The Visakhapatnam campus is the main campus and the largest one, spread over 100 acres of land. The Hyderabad campus is located on the outskirts of the city and covers 200 acres of land. The Bengaluru campus is situated in the IT hub of the city and occupies 50 acres of land. The GIMSR campus is a medical college and hospital established in 2014 in Visakhapatnam³.

GITAM has 12 schools that offer various programmes at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels. The schools are: School of Architecture, School of Engineering, School of Humanities, School of Law, School of Management, School of Medicine, School of Nursing, School of Paramedical Sciences, School of Pharmacy, School of Physiotherapy, School of Public Policy and School of Science⁴.

GITAM has a well-equipped campus with state-of-the-art infrastructure and facilities such as lecture halls, laboratories, library, auditorium, hostel, mess, sports complex, gymnasium and transport. The campus also has a multi-specialty hospital attached to it, which provides clinical training and exposure to the students as well as serves the health care needs of the rural population.

GITAM aims to impart quality education and training to the aspiring students and to produce competent and compassionate professionals who can contribute to the advancement of science and technology and social welfare. The institute has a dedicated and experienced faculty who guide and mentor the students throughout their academic journey. The institute also organizes various academic and extracurricular activities such as seminars, workshops, conferences, cultural events, sports meets and social service camps to enhance the overall development of the students.
