Dr. N.D. Desai Faculty Of Medical Science & Research Centre

Dr. N.D. Desai Faculty Of Medical Science & Research Centre is a private medical college that was established in 2019 by the Dharmsinh Desai University of Nadiad (DDU) in Gujarat. The college is named after Dr. N.D. Desai, a renowned surgeon and founder president of Siddhartha Academy of General & Technical Education, who donated 31.32 acres of land for the college1. The college is affiliated to Dr YSR University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada and is recognised by the Medical Council of India (MCI). The college offers undergraduate (MBBS) courses with an annual intake capacity of 150 students2.

The college is located on the national highway in Nadiad, Gujarat. The college has a sprawling campus with eight buildings, including the college building, the hospital building, the hostel building, the auditorium, the library, the cafeteria, the sports complex and the administrative block1. The college has a well-equipped library with more than 10,000 books and journals, a digital library with internet access, and an e-learning centre2. The college also has a state-of-the-art auditorium with a seating capacity of 750 people, where various academic and cultural events are conducted2.

The college has a 900-bedded multi-specialty teaching hospital that provides clinical education and training to future doctors and postgraduate medical students, in addition to delivering tertiary level medical care to patients3. The hospital provides round-the-clock emergency services, intensive care units, blood bank, dialysis unit, radiology department, pathology department, pharmacy and ambulance services2. The hospital also has specialty departments such as cardiology, neurology, nephrology, gastroenterology, urology, plastic surgery, paediatric surgery, neurosurgery and vascular surgery2. The hospital caters to the needs of the people not just of Kheda district but also of the surrounding under-served areas. The hospital also conducts various outreach programs and health camps.

The college has a dedicated and experienced faculty of 287 members, who are well-qualified and trained in their respective fields. The faculty members are involved in teaching, research and patient care activities. The college follows the curriculum prescribed by the MCI and the Dr YSR University of Health Sciences. The college also conducts regular seminars, workshops, guest lectures, conferences and CME programs for the students and faculty.
