Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre (AIMS) is a not-for-profit organization established with the goal of providing excellence in health care and improving the overall well-being of the community through strong programs in preventive medicine, medical education and research. AIMS is located near Kochi, in the state of Kerala, India. AIMS is part of the health sciences campus of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham (Amrita University). The institute was inaugurated on May 17, 1998 by the then prime minister of India, Sri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, in the presence of her Holiness, Mata Amritanandamayi¹.

AIMS offers various courses in the field of medical science at the undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma and certificate levels. The courses are affiliated with Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham and approved by the National Medical Commission (NMC) formerly known as Medical Council of India (MCI). The courses are also accredited by NABL and NABH.

The undergraduate course offered by AIMS is Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) with an intake capacity of 100 students per year. The duration of the course is four and a half years followed by a compulsory one-year rotating internship. The admission to the MBBS course is based on the merit rank obtained in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA)².

The postgraduate courses offered by AIMS are Doctor of Medicine (MD) and Master of Surgery (MS) in 35 specializations such as Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pathology, Microbiology, Pharmacology, Forensic Medicine, Community Medicine, General Medicine, Pediatrics, Dermatology, Psychiatry, Respiratory Medicine, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, ENT, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Anesthesiology, Radio Diagnosis, Transfusion Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Cardiology, Neurology, Nephrology, Gastroenterology, Endocrinology, Rheumatology, Medical Oncology, Pulmonary Medicine, Neurosurgery, Urology, Plastic Surgery, Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery and Surgical Oncology. The admission to the MD and MS courses is based on the merit rank obtained in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-PG) conducted by the NTA².

The diploma courses offered by AIMS are Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) and Diploma in Paramedical Sciences in 14 specializations such as Dialysis Technician, X-Ray Technician, CT Scan Technician, MRI Technician, ECG Technician, EEG Technician, EMG Technician, Cath Lab Technician, Blood Bank Technician, OT Technician, CSSD Technician, Endoscopy Technician,
Bronchoscopy Technician and Critical Care Technician. The admission to the diploma courses is based on the merit in the previous qualifying examination.

The certificate courses offered by AIMS are Certificate in Critical Care Nursing and Certificate in Operation Theatre Nursing. The admission to the certificate courses is based on the merit in the previous qualifying examination.
