Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences (MAIDS), located in the heart of Central Delhi, is a prestigious dental institute. Named after Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, the first education minister of independent India, the institute has been a part of many significant events throughout history.
The institute began as a small department of dentistry under Maulana Azad Medical College and associated Lok Nayak Hospital. Over the years, it has transformed into a full-fledged dental college and hospital. In 2006, it was elevated to an autonomous institute under the Delhi Government and was rechristened Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences.
MAIDS offers Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) and Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) courses, along with patient care and research activities. The number of BDS seats has increased from 20 to 50, and MDS courses were introduced in 2007. The institute now offers MDS courses in 9 specialties. Presently, there are 22 postgraduate seats in different specialties of dentistry.
The institute caters to the dental needs of all those who visit New Delhi. It is situated in a spacious campus alongside the city's four prestigious landmark hospitals: Maulana Azad Medical College, Lok Nayak Hospital, G. B Pant Hospital, and Guru Nanak Eye Centre.
