Index Medical College Hospital and Research Centre

Index Medical College Hospital and Research Centre (IMCHRC) is a private medical college located in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. It was established in the year 2006 by the Mayank Welfare Society, which also runs other health care institutions such as Chirayu Hospital, Chirayu Cancer Centre, and Chirayu Super Speciality Hospital¹.

IMCHRC offers various courses in the field of medical science at the undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma and certificate levels. The courses are affiliated with Malwanchal University, Medical Sciences University, Jabalpur (MPMSU) and Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore (DAVV Indore). The courses are also accredited by NABL and NABH².

The undergraduate course offered by IMCHRC is Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) with an intake capacity of 250 students per year. The duration of the course is four and a half years followed by a compulsory one-year rotating internship. The admission to the MBBS course is based on the merit rank obtained in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA)³.

The postgraduate courses offered by IMCHRC are Doctor of Medicine (MD) and Master of Surgery (MS) in 19 specializations such as Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pathology, Microbiology, Pharmacology, Forensic Medicine, Community Medicine, General Medicine, Paediatrics, Dermatology, Psychiatry, Respiratory Medicine, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Ophthalmology, ENT, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, and Anaesthesiology. The admission to the MD and MS courses is based on the merit rank obtained in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-PG) conducted by the NTA³.

The diploma courses offered by IMCHRC are Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) and Diploma in Paramedical Sciences in 13 specializations such as Dialysis Technician, X-Ray Technician, CT Scan Technician, MRI Technician, ECG Technician, EEG Technician, EMG Technician, Cath Lab Technician, Blood Bank Technician, OT Technician, CSSD Technician, Endoscopy Technician, and Bronchoscopy Technician. The admission to the diploma courses is based on the merit in the previous qualifying examination⁴.

The certificate course offered by IMCHRC is Certificate in Critical Care. The admission to the certificate course is based on the merit in the previous qualifying examination⁴.

IMCHRC has a sprawling campus with state-of-the-art infrastructure and facilities such as lecture halls, laboratories, library, auditorium, hostel, mess, sports complex, gymnasium, and transport. The campus also has a 750-bedded multi-specialty hospital attached to it, which provides clinical training and exposure to the students as well as serves the health care needs of the urban and rural population⁵.

IMCHRC aims to impart quality medical education and training to the aspiring doctors and paramedics and to produce competent and compassionate professionals who can contribute to the advancement of medical science and health care. The college has a dedicated and experienced faculty who guide and mentor the students throughout their academic journey. The college also organizes various academic and extracurricular activities such as seminars, workshops, conferences, cultural events, sports meets, and social service camps to enhance the overall development of the students.
