Dr. M. G. R. Educational and Research Institute

Dr. M. G. R. Educational and Research Institute is a deemed university located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. It was established in 1988 as Dr. M. G. R. Engineering College, named after the former chief minister of Tamil Nadu, Dr. M. G. Ramachandran. It acquired the status of a deemed university in 2003, and was renamed as Dr. M. G. R. Educational and Research Institute.

The university offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in various disciplines, such as engineering, medicine, dentistry, allied health sciences, humanities, management, law, education, and hotel management. The university also offers online programs and lateral entry admissions for some courses. The university has a flexible credit-based system with global standards, and follows a choice-based credit system (CBCS) for all its programs.

The university has a strong focus on research and innovation, and has established several centers of excellence, such as the Center for Space Technology, the Center for Nanotechnology, the Center for Biomedical Engineering, and the Center for Renewable Energy.
